Let’s start with some of this week’s biggest buzz makers.
Jodie Foster is single.
For those of you who love Jodie Foster and already knew she was gay, the big take away from her recent Golden Globes coming out speech is the fact that she is single. Am I right ladies?
Now, was it a great coming out speech full of quotable lines that the LGBT community can use in an inspiring Pinterest graphic? Nope. Did she sound pretty nervous? Yup. Did she go all over the map and lacked some focus – indeed. Might that have had something to do with the nerves – I’m thinking so.
In the end though, in her own “respect my privacy” kind of way, she put herself out there. Some called it moving, some called it confusing. The Jodie fans loved it, while others hated it, regardless of your stance, we can all likely agree The Onion did an amusing job of spoofing the whole thing.

Poehler & Fey Sandwich anyone?
Amy Poehler and Tiny Fey rocked the Golden Globes. My personal GG highlight was when Pohelr said that her and Tina were going home with Jodie Foster. Yes please.

Canadian (any sized) Screen Awards.
Speaking of award shows, are you aware that the Gemini and Genie Awards have combined to create the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television’s first ever Canadian Screen Awards? I for one am excited to see Canadians celebrating our homegrown talent in a bigger and better way. I’m also pretty pleased to hear that they’re honouring a “new era in multiplatform entertainment”.
That means up-and-coming directors like Jason Leaver’s Out With Dad webseries can get a nod (Best Original Program or Series produced for Digital Media – Fiction) with the likes of storytellers like Sarah Polley (Best Feature-Length Documentary). This is big news for Canadian webseries creators. Of course I’m extra enthused that a nod is going out to a series that features a lesbian story line.
Congrats again for the Out With Dad cast and crew!

Easy Abby catch up.
I just realized I am behind in my Easy Abby episodes. If you are too, enjoy episodes 2 and 3 right now.
For those of you who have seen Four Faced Liar don’t you think Abby has a bit of a Bridget vibe going on here?

A Queer Kardashian?
If you’re wondering who the heck Kam Kardashian is, Kam Kardashian is the main character in a web series by the same name. It’s about the day to day adventures of the long-lost lesbian sister from a very famous family. Ahem. The series is the brainchild of Fawzia Mirza, and she just successfully kickstarted (if you will) a second season with this crowd-sourcing campaign:
Can’t wait to see what Mirza comes up with this season. For those of you who need a little Kam catch up, pop on over to the Kam Kardashian youtube channel and get to streaming.

Did you know that Patti Smith has a show at the Art Gallery of Ontario? How awesome is that?
