Alison Bechdel at TCAF
The TCAF highlight for me (and many, many others) this year was a special appearance by Alison Bechdel. The Queer Mixer at Buddies featured Bechdel talking about her creative process; she showed slides, read a little bit from her new book, Are You My Mother?, and answered audience questions. Delightful.
I swear I could hear all the butch-lovers in the crowd collectively swoon when she took to the stage!

New video from Brandi Carlile
Brandi Carlile’s new album, Bear Creek, is set to release June 5, and I thought I was pretty excited about it, until I saw this preview video. After watching it I find I’m even MORE excited! What a voice.

The Newtown Girls S01E09 is up
Scarlett looks amazing in her bright red birthday dress, but even that won’t distract all the women around her from bringing on the drama.

Inside Out 2012 is here
Those who know me know I love myself a good queer film. So it seems fitting that Inside Out is one of my favourite festivals in TO.
This year the festival programmers are feeling really good about their lineup of lesbian films, which has me extra excited to see what the women’s films are like this year. A few Queeriesmag reviewers and I are working our way through as many as we can, so stay tuned for lots more on what you can expect from this year’s fest.
In the meantime, here is the sexy new festival trailer:

Marriage equality
Obama and North Carolina have many of us talking about US marriage equality in a big way right now, so I thought I might let some familiar faces summarize things:
Fill your weekend up with lots of love if you can. TGIF.
